Four killed in train, jeep collision in northern Sri Lanka

Four people were killed when a train and jeep collided in Killinochchi in the north of the country on Monday, local police said.

The train which was on route from Vavuniya to Jaffna collided with the jeep at a railway intersection, killing four people and injuring two others, a spokesperson at the police media unit told Xinhua. "The deceased and the injured were all passengers from the jeep who were residents of the south," the spokesperson said.

The two injured had been rushed to the Killinochchi state hospital for further treatment.
