Monchengladbach's Martin Stranzl ruled out for rest of the season

Xinhua, April 27, 2015 Adjust font size:

"Foals" defender Martin Stranzl will be sidelined for the rest of the season due to an oedema in his left thigh, the Bundesliga club confirmed in a statement on Monday.

The Austrian defender is already sidelined since early April with an oedema in his right thigh above the knee joint. However, his recovery holds up.

"Last week I started with individual training, which I unfortunately had to cancel because my knee reacted on the stress," the 35 year old center-back told the clubs official homepage.

As a consequence, club doctor Stefan Hertel and sporting director Max Eberl decided that Stranzl should recuperate in the next weeks.

Martin Stranzl is a ball winner in Monchengladbach's defence, who made 30 appearances season this season.

The "Foals" sit currently on the third place of the Bundesliga standings, four points adrift of runner-up Wolfsburg. Endi
