Xinhua, April 27, 2015 Adjust font size:

A bomb hoax at Riga International Airport on Monday morning affected the travel plans of thousands of air passengers, the airport's spokeswoman Sarmite Rinmane said.

Although by noon the airport reopened after the bomb threat turned out to be false, a number of inbound and outbound flights had to be postponed and rescheduled, and the situation is expected to continue throughout the day.

A phone call about bomb threats was received at Riga airport at 7 a.m. local time on Monday. The airport was temporary shut and evacuated and all inbound flights were diverted to the nearest airports.

Riga is the largest air traffic hub in the Baltic states. Enditem
