More than 720 people, including 256 in the capital of Kathmandu, have been killed in a 7.8-magnitude earthquake which jolted large parts of Nepal on Saturday.

Around 180 bodies were seen pulled from the ruins of Dharhara tower in the center of Kathmandu when the massive quake struck at 11:45 a.m. local time (0600 GMT).

The nine-story tower in the historic Basantapur Durbar Square completely collapsed, which reportedly left around 200 people trapped in the rubbles. (Nepal-Earthquake)

LONDON, April 25 (Xinhua) -- Britain has deployed a team of humanitarian experts to Nepal to provide urgent support to those affected by Saturday's earthquake, the BBC said on Saturday.

The eight-strong team, which includes experts in search and rescue, will travel to Nepal overnight.

The 7.8-magnitude quake struck just before midday local time and is thought to have killed more than 1,000 people. (Britain-Nepal-Quake)

JERUSALEM -- Three Israeli policemen were injured on Saturday evening when a Palestinian drove his car into a group of policemen in east Jerusalem, Israeli officials said.

A spokesperson with the Israeli Rescue Services said that the Palestinian driver hit policemen in a suspected "terror attack." The three injured were already evacuated to hospital for treatment. (Israel-Palestine-Attack)

CAIRO -- Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi decided to extend the state of emergency and curfew currently imposed on some parts of North Sinai province for more three months, the presidency said in a statement on Saturday.

"The decree will be in effect from Sunday, and according to the decree a curfew will be imposed on the areas where emergency state is declared," presidential spokesman Alaa Youssef said in the statement. (Egypt-Sinai-Curfew) Endi
