Ex-Corinthians midfielder arrested for attempting to steal ATM

Xinhua, April 26, 2015 Adjust font size:

Police in Brazil have arrested former Corinthians midfielder Pia for attempting to steal an ATM.

The 41-year-old was detained on Saturday in the city of Americana, about 100km northwest of Sao Paulo, police said in a brief statement.

Pia, whose full name is Reginaldo Revelino Jandoso, played seven Brazilian Serie A matches for Corinthians in 2004. He also represented top-flight clubs Santos and Ponte Preta during his career.

It is not the first time Pia has been in trouble with authorities.

He was arrested in February last year for allegedly belonging to a syndicate that stole ATMs.

In 2008 he was acquitted of a 1999 murder charge and in 2001 he was found guilty of illegally possessing a weapon. Endi
