Xinhua, April 25, 2015 Adjust font size:

A national meeting took place Friday in front of the Victorious Fatherland Liberation War Museum in the capital of Pyongyang of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) to mark the 83rd founding anniversary of the Korean People's Army (KPA) on April 25, the official KCNA news agency reported.

Attending the national meeting were senior party, state and military officials including Premier Pak Pong Ju, secretaries of the Workers' Party of Korea Choe Ryong Hae and Choe Thae Bok, and chief of the KPA General Staff Ri Yong Gil.

In a report delivered by Ri Yong Gil, he recalled late top leader Kim Il Sung's founding of the Korean People's Revolutionary Army on April 25, 1932, the predecessor of the Korean People's Army.

Ri praised late top leader Kim Jong Il for "embarking on the road of the Songun (military-first) revolutionary leadership" and "putting the DPRK on the position of world-class military power and nuclear weapons state."

He concluded the speech by calling on the service personnel and the people to achieve national reunification at an early date and to win a final victory in the revolutionary cause under the current top leadership of Kim Jong Un. Endite
