Tokyo shares maintain buoyant with Nikkei hitting new 15-yr high

Tokyo shares maintained its buoyant trend by opening the trading Thursday with its benchmark Nikkei briefly hitting to a fresh 15-year high, following gains in the overnight U.S market and hopes for improved corporate performance here.
At 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 69.51 points, or 0.35 percent, from Wednesday to 20,203.41, after briefly hitting 20,252.12, its highest intraday level since April 2000.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was up 8.24 points, or 0.51 percent, to 1,630. 03. Endi
