Namibia to host regional all Africa Ladies Golf tourney

Xinhua, April 23, 2015 Adjust font size:

Namibia will host the Southern Regional All Africa Ladies Challenge Golf Trophy (SRAACT) on April 28-30 at the Omeya Golf Estate, 30km outside the capital Windhoek.

Namibia will be host to four other southern African nations, namely Botswana, Zimbabwe, Lesotho and South Africa. This will be the first time that an international tournament will be hosted at the Omeya Golf Course.

Twenty five international participants will take part in the event, which follows immediately after the Bank Windhoek Namibia Amateur Ladies Strokeplay Championships on the weekend.

Caro Els, Thea Groenewald, Celonika Robinson and Nadia Schmidt will represent Namibia at the event.

Thea Groenewald, President of Namibian Ladies Golf Union (NALGU) , said, "NALGU is committed to develop ladies golf in Namibia and to encourage more ladies to take part. It is a slow process, but we are confident that an international tournament such as SRAACT, will certainly benefit our development efforts and help us realize our goal."

South Africa is the favorite as it has been undefeated since the first inception of the tournament. Endite
