1st LD: Terrorist suspect arrested in Paris: minister

Xinhua, April 22, 2015 Adjust font size:

French Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve said Tuesday that a student, 24, was arrested here Sunday morning for being suspected of planning a massive terrorist attack in Paris.

The student, possessing a significant arsenal of weapons, was allegedly planning "imminent" terrorist attacks against "one or two churches" in Paris, Cazeneuve said.

The suspect, who is believed to be an Islamic radical, is known to the anti-terrorist service for intentions to leave for Syria to join the jihadists, the minister said.

He also said the police found an arsenal "of several military weapons, handguns, ammunition, bullet-proof vests and mobile phones."

Moreover, the student is suspected of killing a woman in Villejuif, south Paris.

In January, two terrorist attacks against the weekly magazine Charlie Hebdo and a Jewish supermarket killed 17 people. Endi
