ARM Holdings sees revenue up 14 pct in Q1 2015

Xinhua, April 21, 2015 Adjust font size:

ARM Holdings Plc, a Cambridge-based chip designer, Tuesday announced that its first quarter revenue increased by 14 percent to 348.2 million U.S. dollars, compared with the same period last year.

Revenue from processor royalty was up 31 percent on year-on-year basis in the first quarter of 2015, while processor licensing revenue was down 2 percent, said ARM in a statement.

Normalized profit before tax and earnings per share soared by 24 percent and 27 percent year-on-year respectively, data showed.

ARM-based chips shipment increased by 31 percent year-on-year to 3.8 billion units, and 30 processor licenses signed for a broad range of applications in the first quarter, figures showed.

In regard to market outlook, ARM said: "Assuming that the macroeconomic backdrop remains supportive of consumer spending, we expect group dollar revenues for the full-year 2015 to be at least in line with current market expectations."

Simon Segars, chief executive officer of ARM, said: "As the world becomes more digital and more connected, we continue to see an increase in the demand for ARM's smart and energy-efficient technology, which is driving both our licensing and royalty revenues."

The chip designer whose products power Apple Inc's iPhones and iPads is one of the major technology giants in Britain. Endit
