Tokyo stocks rise 0.90 pct. on overseas market gains, weaker yen

Tokyo stocks rose 0.90 percent Tuesday morning lifted by overnight gains in U.S. and European markets and the yen's depreciation.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average was up 177.40 points, from Monday to 19,811.89. The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange gained 20.26 points, or 1.28 percent, to 1,602.94.

All 33 industry groups advanced with the exception of energy. Rubber, insurance and bank issues were among the biggest gainers. Endi
