Algeria condemns assassination of Ethiopians in Libya

Xinhua, April 21, 2015 Adjust font size:

Algeria on Monday "strongly" condemned the assassination of 30 Ethiopian nationals by an ISIS affiliated group in Libya.

"Cowardly terrorism has struck Libya again by targeting innocent Ethiopian nationals in a country they came to seek hospitality of generous Libyans, who are themselves victims of the scourge of terrorism which has neither nationality, nor religion or border," spokesman for the Foreign Ministry, Abdelaziz Benali Cherif, was quoted as saying by APS news agency.

He reiterated that "We are deeply outraged at this appalling and despicable massacre."

"The repetition of these crimes in Libya urges the international community to support the ongoing efforts aiming at reaching a political solution that will encourage the establishment of democratic institutions, isolate and defeat terrorism in Libya," he concluded.

A video emerged on internet on Sunday appeared to show IS militants shooting and beheading about 30 Ethiopians in Libya. Endit
