Dortmund appoint Tuchel as new coach

Xinhua, April 20, 2015 Adjust font size:

Former Mainz coach Thomas Tuchel will take the helm in Borussia Dortmund at the end of the season, the "BVB" confirmed in an official statement on Sunday.

Four days after the news of Juergen Klopp's departure, Dortmund announced that former Mainz coach Thomas Tuchel succeeds Klopp at the end of the season.

The eight-time German champions and the 41-year-old coach agreed on a three-year deal until June 2018.

Due to that fact that Klopp remains in charge until the end of the season, the club wrote on its website that "Borussia Dortmund will officially introduce Thomas Tuchel one week after the end of the season. The BVB ask for understanding that those responsible will comment in due time."

Tuchel coached Bundesliga side Mainz from 2009 until 2014. In Mainz, the 41-year-old coach stepped down one year ahead of schedule, despite an existing contract until June 2015. Nevertheless, Mainz denied to void the stipulated contract until 2015 forcing Tuchel to take a sabbatical.

His new club sit currently on the 9th place of the Bundesliga standings. Endi
