South Africa close to retain Africa Zone VI Golf Championship title

Defending champions South Africa have brightened their chances of retaining the Africa Zone VI Golf Championship as the 2015 event entered Day 2 on Friday.
South Africa and hosts Uganda were tied 6.5 points on the first day and again tied in the foursome pairs category played on Friday at the Par-72 Kitante Golf Club in Kampala. The two nations are tied at 12.5 points, while Kenya is second on 10.5 points.
Uganda's pair of Martin Ochaya and Happy Robert were 4 and 2 against Botswana's pair of Bolokanang Podise and Sipho Abueng. Kenya's pair of Robinson Owiti and Nelson Simwa were 4 and 3 against Uganda's pair of Gideon Kagyenzi and Ronald Bukenya in Uganda's first loss.
Uganda's Ronald Otile and Adolf Muhumuza were 3 and 2 winners over Tonderai Masunga and Docter Maphosa from Zimbabwe.
In the other game Robert Oluba and Lawrence Muhenda from Uganda also picked a 3 and 1 win over Sifiso Vilane and Jabulane Mabaso from Swaziland.
Uganda is seeking to win the tournament for the first time having finished third the last time they hosted the tournament in 2004 where they finished third.
"We are going to fight on the last day to win this trophy that we have never won. We need to be at our best," Uganda's captain Adolf Muhumuza told Xinhua.
In the other table standings collected after Day 2, Zambia are fourth on 9.5 points, while Swaziland have 6.5 points and Namibia 3 points. The event will climax on Saturday. Endite
