Albanian police detain 22 migrants from Syria

Albanian border police on Friday detained 22 migrants from Syria in Gjirokaster, south of Albania, local media reported.

The immigrants were detained in the village of Glina, several kilometers inside Albanian territory, the Albanian Telegraphic Agency quoted police sources as saying.

Among the migrants, 10 were women and six children, who were provided with food and medical care, according to the police.

Albania has recently become a transit country for the immigrants, who were seeking to cross into European Union countries. Endit
