Xinhua, April 17, 2015 Adjust font size:

The Chinese Nanjing city donated 110 solar energy lighting equipment worth 100,000 Namibia dollar (about 8,000 U.S. dollars) to Namibian capital city Windhoek.

Nanjing also offered Windhoek residents scholarships to study science and technology in China.

The donation was made Thursday when the two municipalities signed a letter of intent for facilitating tourism, culture, economic development and trade.

Nanjing Mayor Miao Ruilin signed on behalf of his municipality while Muesee Kazapua signed for the City of Windhoek.

Speaking at the occasion, Miao said the signing of the letter of intent lays a solid foundation for future cooperation that will benefit the two cities.

Miao further said this will promote cultural activities and that he was looking forward to seeing more cooperation especially in the food sector between Nanjing and Windhoek.

Kazapua, who applauded the Nanjing Municipality, said the letter of intent included training and development in science and technology.

He said a formal memorandum of city to city cooperation would be signed in the shortest possible time. Endi
