Donations for disabled people exceed 57 mln USD in 2014

The total revenue of the China Foundation for Disabled Persons (CFDP) in 2014 reached 384 million yuan (62 million U.S. dollars), with 354 million yuan coming through donations.
Expenditure of the CFDP last year was 416 million yuan, of which 405 million went on public welfare, according to figures announced at a meeting on Friday. China has 85 million disabled people.
The expenditure on staff and administration accounted for 3.43 percent of the total, in line with regulations on foundation operations.
In 2014, with the help of the CFDP, 15,000 cataract patients received surgery to recover their eyesight, and 2,305 hearing disabled people received subsidies.
In an eight-year old program, 8.6 million yuan was allocated to help about 4,000 disabled juveniles in 2014, said the CFDP.
Tang Xiaoquan, director of the foundation, called on the public to donate more.
At the meeting, Wang Naikun, deputy head of the China Disabled Persons' Federation, was elected as the new director of the CFDP.
