Number of overseas visitors to Britain drops in Feb.

The number of visits to Britain by overseas residents dropped by 5 percent to 2.08 million in February 2015, compared to February 2014, said the Office for National Statistics (ONS) Thursday.
Overseas visitors totally spend 970 million pounds (1.45 billion U.S. dollars) in February, 19 percent less than the previous year, data showed.
In the three months to February, the number of visits by overseas residents was 6.88 million, and they spent 3.92 billion pounds in Britain during their visit.
In the year to February, however, there were 34.64 million overseas residents visiting Britain and spending 21.36 billion pounds.
British residents made 3.41 million visits abroad in February, with a total expenditure of 2.01 billion pounds. In the three months and 12 months to February, the visits' number was 10.57 million and 60.89 million respectively.
The corresponding expenditure amount was 6.02 billion and 35.77 billion pounds, figures showed.
According to data released by ONS earlier this year, visitors made 34.8 million trips to Britain in 2014, an increase of 6 percent on the 2013 total with spend up 3 percent. (1 pound = 1.49 U.S. dollars) Endit
