Nikkei slips 0.48 pct on firmer yen

Tokyo stocks fell 0.48 percent in the morning session of Thursday as a stronger yen weighed on major exporters.

The 225-issue Nikkei was down 96.20 points, or 0.48 percent, from Wednesday at 19,773.56. The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange lost 3.53 points, or 0. 22 percent, at 1,585.28.

Major decliners included air transport, service and precision instrument issues. Endi
