French stock market index up 0.70 pct

The French stock market benchmark index CAC 40 closed with an advance of 0.70 percent at 5,254.35 points on Wednesday, up 36.29 points.

Supported by the rise of the oil price and the continued purchase of government bonds by the European Central Bank, the CAC 40 closed slightly higher on Wednesday with 33 of the 40 selected companies gaining advance.

Wednesday's top three gainers were Technip, up 4.01 percent, ArcelorMittal, up 2.88 percent, and Airbus Group, up 2.62 percent.

The three companies that lost most on Wednesday were Alcatel-Lucent, plummeting 15.51 percent, Capgemini, down 0.93 percent, and Vivendi, down 0.42 percent.

In the previous trading day, the CAC 40 closed with a decrease of 0.69 percent at 5,218.06 points, down 36.06 points. Endite
