Former Ghanaian president says world must not abandon Chibok girls

Xinhua, April 16, 2015 Adjust font size:

Former Ghanaian president Jerry John Rawlings Wednesday asked the international community not to abandon over 200 Nigerian schoolgirls abducted one year ago by the Islamic militant group Boko Haram.

A statement released here from the office of the ex-Ghanaian leader on the first anniversary of the abduction, expressed the hope that the girls were safe and alive, cautioning that adverse action against the girls could lead to the perpetrators paying a heavy price.

On the night of April 14 last year, over 200 female students were kidnapped from the Government Secondary School in the town of Chibok in Borno State in Nigeria. Endi
