G7 foreign ministers urge implementation of Minsk agreements

Xinhua, April 15, 2015 Adjust font size:

The G7 foreign ministers issued here a joint statement on Wednesday, urging all sides to implement their commitments under the Minsk agreements in view of Ukraine situation.

The statement said, the G7 group is convinced that the conflict in Ukraine can only be solved by diplomatic means and in full respect for international law, especially the legal obligation to respect Ukraine's sovereignty, territorial integrity and independence.

Further and verifiable progress is required in particular as regards respect for the ceasefire and withdrawal of heavy weapons, said the statement.

The foreign ministers also said they welcomed the Extended Arrangement under the Extended Fund Facility (EFF) agreed between the IMF and the government of Ukraine, as it provides an anchor for the international efforts to support the stabilisation of the country.

In the statement, foreign ministers of G7 group, which includes Germany, France, Italy, Japan, Canada, the United Kingdom and the United States, also welcomed the political understanding on key parameters of a Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action reached on April 2. Endit
