Obama to meet with UAE crown prince over regional issues

Xinhua, April 14, 2015 Adjust font size:

U.S. President Barack Obama will meet with Crown Prince Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) next Monday to talk about a wide range of regional and bilateral issues, the White House said on Tuesday.

Atop the agenda will be the ongoing battle against the extremist Islamic State group in Iraq and Syria, the tentative deal reached early this month with Iran over its nuclear program and the Saudi-led air raids on the Houthi rebels in Yemen, the White House said in a statement.

And how best to resolve the conflicts in Libya and Syria will also be discussed along with defense cooperation and climate change, the White House said.

Obama had invited leaders of the UAE, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar and Saudi Arabia -- member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council -- for a meeting this spring at Camp David, a presidential retreat in the U.S. state of Maryland. Endi
