Tokyo shares end mixed by break

Tokyo shares ended the morning session Tuesday mixed on profit-taking, but optimism about potential climbing held the downtrend.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average inched down 8.52 points, or 0.04 percent, from Monday to 19,896.94.

On the contrary, the broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was up 3.91 points, or 0.25 percent, to 1,590.17. Endi
