Australian state gov't allows bill payments on mobile apps

Xinhua, April 14, 2015 Adjust font size:

An Australian state government will allow citizens to pay their bills, such a driver's licence, on their smartphones through a special tap-and-pay app, the authorities said Tuesday.

The New South Wales (NSW) government said Service NSW will be among the first government agencies in Australia to accept newer payment systems such as PayPal, Master Pass, Visa Checkout and Apple Pay.

"It's time for the government to support our citizens in paying the way they want to and that's using new payment methods online or on mobile devices," Finance Minister Dominic Perrottet said in a statement.

"This solution will reduce duplication of payments infrastructure, streamline payment processes and deliver value for money." Endi
