Tokyo stocks end slightly lower on profit-taking

Tokyo stocks ended slightly lower Monday on profit-taking.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average was down 2.17 points, or 0. 01 percent, from Friday at 19,905.46. The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange lost 3.28 points, or 0.21 percent, to 1,586.26.

Major declining industry groups included insurance, utilities and land transport. Mining and brokerage were among the biggest gainers.

The turnover was 2,139.9 billion yen (about 17.77 billion U.S. dollar). Endi
