12 Afghan militants killed in 24 hours: ministry

Afghan police backed by the army have killed 12 Taliban militants during series of operations across the country over the past 24 hours, Ministry of Interior said in a statement released here on Monday.

During the operations conducted in Faryab, SariPul, Jowzjan, Kandahar, Uruzgan, Logar, Kapisa, Khost, Paktika and Helmand provinces, five more militants have been wounded and two others arrested, the statement contended.

The statement, however, did not say if there were casualties on security personnel. Taliban militants fighting the government have yet to make comment. Endi
