Spanish treasury places 4.722 bln euros on market

The Spanish treasury on Thursday placed treasury bonds worth 4.722 billion euros (about 5.068 billion U.S. dollars) paying lower yields in three and 30-year bonds.

A total of 1.602 billion euros worth of bonds with a three-year lifespan carried an average interest rate of 0.133 percent, slightly below the 0.18 percent of the previous auction held in March.

A further 1.836 billion euros worth of bonds with a ten-year lifespan fetched an average interest rate of 1.229 percent and a marginal interest of 1.239 percent, slightly above the 1.050 percent of the previous issue.

The placement also included 1.284 billion euros worth of 30-year bonds that fetched an average interest rate of 2.068 percent, which was below the 2.495 percent of the previous auction held in February.

So far this year, the Spanish treasury has placed around 54 billion euros of medium and long-term on the market, which represents 38 percent of the country's financial goals for 2015, around 141.996 billion euros. Endit
