Xinhua, April 9, 2015 Adjust font size:

The service and industry sectors remained the main contributors in the economic growth of Albania in 2014, according to an annual report published on Wednesday by the Albanian National Institute of Statistics.

In annual terms, the sector of service increased by 2.47 percent, compared with 0.08 percent in 2013. The sector of industry increased by 2.4 percent in 2014 when exports in this sector decreased significantly. In 2013, the sector increased by 8 percent in annual terms.

The increase of the industry sector was affected by the reduction of the energy exports and lower oil and mineral prices in the international market. Following these developments, the extractive industry sector increased by 40 percent in the first quarter of 2014 and only 10 percent in annual terms.

The agriculture sector registered an increase of 1.98 percent in 2014. The best performance was noticed during the first half of 2014 as exports increased by 35 percent. Endi
