Australia gives Singapore koalas for 50th anniversary

The Australian government on Thursday celebrated Singapore's 50 years of independence by giving the nation four koalas for its local zoo.

Australian Foreign Minister Julie Bishop said the koalas would act as "beautiful cuddly ambassadors" and were a symbolic gift to the Singapore Zoo.

"I can't think of a better way to express our friendship, our partnership, the depth of relationship," she told reporters in Brisbane on Thursday. Endi
