3 injured in landslide in Indian-controlled Kashmir

Xinhua, April 8, 2015 Adjust font size:

At least three people were injured after a landslide hit them in Indian-controlled Kashmir, police said Wednesday.

The landslide drifted in Keran sector of frontier Kupwara district, about 130 km northwest of Srinagar city, the summer capital of Indian-controlled Kashmir.

"A landslide hit three locals at Mundian Det bridge in Keran today," a police spokesman said. "The injured were immediately rescued and shifted to hospital for treatment."

Reports said the injured were airlifted to Srinagar for specialized treatment in wake of their critical condition.

According to the spokesman police has taken necessary measures to prevent such incidents in the area.

During the week 25 people were killed after landslides triggered by heavy rains buried them at three different places in the region.

Kashmir has a rugged terrain. Landslides and avalanches are often triggered from its mountains during frequent rains and heavy snow the region receives. Endi
