Czech Republic requests India for help evacuating citizens from Yemen

Xinhua, April 8, 2015 Adjust font size:

The Czech Republic requested India to help evacuate their citizens from Yemen, the Czech Foreign Ministry said Tuesday.

Ministry spokesperson David Frous said there were about 10 Czech citizens in Yemen at present, and about 20 people with family relations to the Czech Republic.

Frous said more than 20 countries, including outside the EU, had turned to the Indian government for help with evacuating their citizens in Yemen. India is expected to send a ship for the evacuees.

Meanwhile according to earlier reports, China has helped evacuate a total of 279 foreigners, aside from 629 Chinese nationals, from restive Yemen since it launched on March 29 a massive evacuation mission, which ended on Tuesday, according to the Chinese embassy in Yemen.

The Chinese naval vessel Weishanhu carrying nine Chinese nationals and one Japanese citizen arrived at Oman's Salalah port on Tuesday, marking the end of the mission. Endit
