Nikkei opens modestly higher in early trading after Wall Street gains

Tokyo stocks opened modestly higher in early trading Tuesday, following overnight gains on Wall Street.

At 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average was up 115.57 points, or 0.60 percent, from Monday to 19,513.55.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange gained 12.88 points, or 0.83 percent, to 1, 573.59.

Major gainers included mining, real estate and utility issues. Endi
