Augsburg extends contracts for coach and director

Xinhua, April 6, 2015 Adjust font size:

Augsburg extended the contracts of coach Markus Weinzierl and sporting director Stefan Reuter, the club confirmed in a statement on Sunday.

Just before the clash against Schalke, Augsburg announced two personal decisions as the "Fuggerstaedter" extended the contracts of coach Markus Weinzierl until 2019 and sporting director Stefan Reuter until 2020.

"The contract extension with Stefan Reuter and Markus Weinzierl is a milestone for Augsburg. It makes us proud that both committed to the FCA. We are convinced that we have laid the foundation with this duo to be successful in the future," Augsburg president Klaus Hofmann said.

Weinzierl took the helm in 2012 helping the club to stay in Germany's top flight. Besides that, he helped the club to complete the last season on the 8th place that was the best ever performance in the club's history.

"Augsburg's development in the last two and a half years was great. It is a result of a successful team work," coach Weinzierl said.

The "FCA" sit currently on the 6th place of the Bundesliga standings. Endi
