Suicide bomb kills 6 people in NW Libya

Xinhua, April 5, 2015 Adjust font size:

Six people were killed and dozens others injured in a suicide bomb on Sunday in Libya's northwestern city of Misrata, security sources said.

A man detonated a car bomb at Sdada checkpoint, southeast of the coastal city, a security officer told Xinhua, declining to disclose his name.

The bodies and the injured were immediately transferred to a local hospital, and security forces have rushed to the site and sealed off the area.

Several Islamic State offshoots in Libya, including "IS Tripoli Province," have claimed responsibility for the attack on their official social webpages.

Libya has been plagued with terror attacks, armed clashes, kidnappings and assassinations, since the 2011 turmoil which toppled former leader Muammar Gaddafi. Endit
