1st LD Writethru: Motorcycle bomb shocks Afghan southern Kandahar city

A motorbike bomb hit the southern Kandahar city on Sunday causing no loss of life, spokesman for provincial government Samim Khapalwak said.

"The terrorists placed explosive objects in the cavities of a motorbike and parked it in second Aino Mina locality to target people but fortunately the blast caused no loss of life," Khapalwak told Xinhua.

He also added that the blast occurred at 10:30 a.m. local time and investigation has been initiated into the case.

Kandahar, the birthplace of Taliban militants has been the scene of militancy and violent incidents over the past few years.

This is the second blast in the conflict-ridden Afghanistan since Sunday morning.

In the previous blast which happened in the northern Kunduz province at 09:00 a.m. local time, a prosecutor was badly injured, police said. Endi
