Ghana to fine-tune in New Zealand for U-20 World Cup

Xinhua, April 5, 2015 Adjust font size:

Ghana's U-20 men's national team, the Black Satellites, will camp in New Zealand ahead of the 2015 FIFA World Cup in the country.

The Ghanaian side will limber up in New Zealand for six weeks before the start of the championship from May, 30 to June, 20.

The camp will give head coach Sellas Tetteh the opportunity to select his final 21-man squad for the 24-nation competition.

The Black Satellites, bronze medalists at the 2015 African Youth Championship (AYC) in Senegal, are expected to play a four-nation tournament before travelling for the over one-month-long camp.

The mini competition is expected to feature Brazil and two other countries who have all qualified for the three-week gathering.

Ghana is paired in Group B alongside Argentina, Panama and Austria and will open its campaign against Austria on Saturday May 30 at the Wellington Regional Stadium in New Zealand.

Ghana is the only African side to have annexed the FIFA U-20 World Cup trophy in 2009.

Mali, Nigeria and Senegal are the other sides to represent Africa at this year's U20 World Cup. Endi
