Kenya's Interior Minister Joseph Nkaissery said on Friday the death toll of the attack at the Garissa University College rose to 148, including 142 students, 3 policemen and 3 soldiers from Kenya Defense Forces.

The four terrorists from Al-Shabaab were all killed during the rescue operation, the official confirmed. (Kenya-Garissa)

UNITED NATIONS -- The UN Security Council is to meet in an emergency meeting on Saturday to discuss the current situation in Yemen, the UN Spokesperson's Office announced here Friday.

"The president of the Security Council invites the members of the Council to informal consultations of the whole, in connection with 'Middle East (Yemen)', tomorrow, Saturday, 4 April 2015 at 11:00 a.m.," said an email message sent to reporters here from the UN office. WASHINGTON -- U.S. President Barack Obama spoke with leaders of four Gulf countries on Friday and shared with them details of the political framework reached between world powers and Iran on Tehran's nuclear program.

Obama "spoke with King Hamad al Khalifa of Bahrain, Amir Sabah al Sabah of Kuwait, Amir Tamim al Thani of Qatar, and Crown Prince Mohammed al Nahyan of the United Arab Emirates," the White House said in a statement. (US-Arabs-Iran Nuke)

WASHINGTON -- U.S. Defense Secretary Ash Carter will visit Asia in April and May in an attempt to affirm defense relationship with its allies, the Department of Defense announced Friday.

A statement issued by the DOD said Carter will visit Japan on April 8-9. During his stay in Japan, Carter will meet with senior Japanese officials to discuss the defense strategic guidelines review ahead of Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe's visit to Washington at the end of April.
