Minnesota Twins pitcher banned 80 games for doping

Xinhua, April 4, 2015 Adjust font size:

Minnesota Twins pitcher Ervin Santana was banned on Friday for 80 games after a doping test turned positive.

Santana, who just signed a four year, 54 million US dollars contract with the Twins, tested positive for the anabolic steroid Stanozolol.

On Thursday, Atlanta Braves pitcher Arodys Vizcaino also received an 80-game ban for using Stanozolol.

"We were disappointed to learn of the suspension of Ervin Santana for violating Major League Baseball's Joint Drug Prevention and Treatment Program," the Twins said.

"We fully support Major League Baseball's policy and its efforts to eliminate performance-enhancing substances from our game." Endi
