Roberto Carlos: Danilo is like Dani Alves

Xinhua, April 4, 2015 Adjust font size:

Brazil World Cup winner Roberto Carlos says new Real Madrid signing Danilo has the potential to be as good as Barcelona's Dani Alves.

Real Madrid earlier this week struck a deal with Porto to sign the 23-year-old at the end of the season for 31.5 million euros.

Carlos, a left-back for Real Madrid from 1996 to 2007, said Danilo combined attacking flair with defensive solidity.

"I think he's a lot like Dani Alves," the 2002 World Cup winner was quoted saying by Sambafoot. "Danilo is a very good, complete full-back. He defends well and attacks well."

"I think Madrid have made a great signing because he has lots of quality. He also adapts to things very easily and I'm sure he' ll do well."

Carlos stopped short of rating Danilo alongside Brazil's 2002 World Cup-winning captain Cafu.

"To compare him with Cafu is very difficult because he has won many titles and has been the best right-back in history," Carlos added. Endite
