Xinhua, April 3, 2015 Adjust font size:

A massive fire broke out at a shoe factory in the capital Colombo on Friday, causing severe damage to the building, the police said.

Police Spokesperson ASP Ruwan Gunesekara told Xinhua that several fire trucks had reached the scene and were trying to douse the flames.

He said no injuries had been caused but the building had been completely destroyed.

"The first started around 11 a.m. (local time) and several fire trucks are at the scene trying to douse the flames. We are trying to investigate the cause of the fire," Gunesekara said.

The police said the factory belonged to a private company. Endi
