Tokyo stocks rebound sharply in morning after recent losses

Tokyo stocks ended 1.27 percent higher in the morning session of Thursday as investors bought on dips after two days of steep losses.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average rose 241.14 points, or 1.27 percent, from Wednesday to 19,275.98. The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange gained 20.99 points, or 1.37 percent, to 1,549.98.

Major gainers included rubber, land transport and banking issues. Endi
