Myanmar, Netherlands to cooperate in SME

Myanmar and the Netherlands have vowed to cooperate in small and medium enterprises (SME) between the two countries, official reports said Thursday.
It was discussed when Myanmar President U Thein Sein met with visiting Queen Maxima of the Netherlands in Nay Pyi Taw.
Among their discussions were also electricity and potable water supply, environmental conservation, poverty alleviation, improvement of microfinance, and foreign investment.
Queen Maxima arrived in Myanmar Monday on a three-day visit, during which she held talks with representatives of banks, microfinance institutions and telecom providers in Yangon.
She also gave speech at the University of Yangon, calling for cooperation to work together on the delivery of financial services at affordable prices to less-advantaged sections of the society.
In April 2014, the two countries signed an agreement, under which the Netherlands Trust Fund III was to provide cash assistance for the implementation of the National Export Strategy for Myanmar's tourist development.
The Netherlands also announced then providing assistance to Myanmar in water resources management by utilizing its experience in the sector through public-private partnership. Endi
