Nigerians in diaspora support regional troops against Boko Haram

The Nigerian community living in the Chadian capital N'Djamena, on Tuesday organized a peaceful march to support Chadian and Cameroonian troops fighting against the militant group Boko Haram.

Walking from the Nigerian embassy to the headquarters of Chad's national defense ministry, a distance of about 10 km, hundreds of Nigerians expressed their "unity against Boko Haram's terror and their 100 percent support for the Chadian army."

They also donated food to Chadian soldiers who are currently fighting against Boko Haram.

"Our gesture is very modest, and we consider it as a drop in the ocean. But it is a show of support for the Chadian authorities in their efforts to promote peace in Chad and in the sub-region," the group's spokesman Unuoha Michael said.

In mid-January 2015, the Chadian government decided to send 2, 500 troops to Cameroon and 1,500 others to Niger to combat Boko Haram which had started carrying out attacks in Nigeria's two neighboring countries. Endi
