Xinhua, April 1, 2015 Adjust font size:

Authorities of Vietnam's central Ha Tinh province on Tuesday decided to prosecute the case of fatal accident in Formosa Ha Tinh Steel Corporation (FHS) construction site in the province which killed 13 people last week.

At around 20:00 p.m. local time on last Wednesday, a scaffold collapsed in Vung Ang port construction site, part of FHS's huge iron and steel project in Ky Anh district, Ha Tinh Province, some 350 km south of capital Hanoi.

The accident occurred when workers were working on scaffolds with a height of about 20 to 30 meters at the Vung Ang port under construction by South Korea's Samsung Group. The workers were casting concrete column for sea breakwater at Son Duong deep-water wharf of Vung Ang port while the accident happened.

As many as 13 people were killed while 28 others injured.

After the accident, Ha Tinh provincial authority set up an inter-agency team to investigate the case. On Tuesday, Ha Tinh police prosecuted the case with violations in labor safety regulations, according to an official online newspaper of Ha Tinh province.

Earlier on last Friday, initial cause of the accident was identified as a failure in hydraulic brakes system on the scaffolding. Endi
