Seoul shares ended higher on Tuesday.

The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) rose 10. 99 points, or 0.54 percent, to 2,041.03 at the close.

BEIJING -- Chinese stocks nosedived into negative territory just ahead of the closing bell on Tuesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 1.02 percent, or 38.67 points, to finish at 3,747.9 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index shed 0.25 percent, or 32.65 points, to close at 13,160.66 points.

TAIPEI -- Taiwan's share prices closed up 0.67 percent on Tuesday with the weighted index up 64.57 points at 9,586.44.

Turnover totaled 105.35 billion new Taiwan dollars (about 3.37 billion U.S. dollars) during the trading session.

VIENTIANE -- The Lao stock market finished on Tuesday up 0.20 percent against the previous trading day.

The Lao Securities Exchange composite index increased by 3.03 points to 1,553.26. A total of 27,455 shares worth about 158 million Lao kip (about 19,000 U.S. dollars) changed hands at the stock market.

MANILA -- Philippine shares closed 0.52 percent higher on Tuesday.

HO CHI MINH CITY -- VN-Index, the stock market index of Ho Chi Minh (HCM) City bourse in south Vietnam, closed at 551.13 points on Tuesday, up 5.94 points, or 1.09 percent, against the previous trading day's closing session.

About 83.615 million shares worth 1.318 trillion Vietnamese dong (VND) (61.44 million U.S. dollars) changed hands at the southern HCM City Stock Exchange. Prices of 159 stocks went up, 62 stocks fell down, while 64 stocks remained unchanged.

HANOI -- Stock market index of Vietnam's capital Hanoi, HNX- Index, closed at 82.27 points on Tuesday, up 0.69 points, or 0.84 percent, against the previous closing session.
