Two bomb blasts organized by militants have left seven people, all civilians dead and injured another in Taliban's former strongholds, Ghazni and Kandahar provinces since Monday night, officials said Tuesday.
In the first violent incident which occurred on Monday night in the troubled Andar district of Ghazni province with Ghazni city as its capital 125 km south of Kabul, seven members of a family were killed.
"A roadside mine planted by Taliban in Alizai village of Andar district struck a vehicle last night, killing seven members of one family," Andar district head Qasim Desiwal told Xinhua.
The victims include three children, three women and a man, the official added.
He blamed Taliban militants for the attack, saying they often plant roadside mines to target security forces, but the lethal devices usually claim the lives of civilians.
Desiwal said security forces can often discover and defuse 15 such mines per day.
Taliban militants fighting the government and largely relying on suicide and roadside bombings have yet to claim responsibly for the deadly bombing.
In another violent incident which happened in Kandahar University on Tuesday, one civilian sustained injury, an official confirmed.
"An explosive device planted by terrorists in front of the Agriculture faculty, Kandahar University went off at 11:30 a.m. ( local time), injuring one civilian," spokesman for Kandahar provincial government Samim Khapalwak told Xinhua.
He added that the device was a remote-controlled bomb.
Civilians mostly bear the brunt of war in the militancy-hit Afghanistan as nearly 3,700 civilians were killed and more than 6, 800 others wounded in conflicts and Taliban-led militancy in 2014 in the country, according to a report released in February by the UN mission here. Endi
