French stock market index up 0.98 pct on Monday

The French stock market benchmark index CAC 40 advanced 0.98 percent to close at 5,083.52 points on Monday, up 49.46 points.

As the European Central Bank continues to support the current financial situation in Europe, the CAC 40 closed slightly higher on Monday with 33 of the 40 selected companies gaining advance.

Monday's top three gainers were Peugeot, up 3.68 percent, Alcatel-Lucent, up 3.43 percent, and Valeo, up 3.24 percent.

The three companies that lost most on Monday were Lafarge, down 1.93 percent, Veolia Environnement, down 0.52 percent, and Danone, down 0.36 percent.

In the previous trading day, the CAC 40 advanced 0.55 percent to close at 5,034.06 points, up 27.71 points. Enditem
