Portugal edges Serbia 2-1 in Euro 2016 qualifier

Xinhua, March 30, 2015 Adjust font size:

Portugal took their third straight win in Euro 2016 qualifiers on Sunday, beating Serbia 2-1 to go top of Group I.

Cristiano Ronaldo made little impact as defenders scored both Portuguese goals.

Ricardo Carvalho headed Portugal ahead in the 10th minute, Nemanja Matic blasted home a spectacular equalizer at the 61st minute only for Real Madrid's Fabio Coentrao to nail the winner two minutes later.

In the other Group I game, Albania came from behind to beat Armenia 2-1 to go level on seven points with Denmark, two points behind Portugal.

Serbia, who had been deducted three points for disturbances during a home qualifier against Albania last October, has one point from four games. Endi
