China's top legislator meets Austrian president

Xinhua, March 27, 2015 Adjust font size:

China's top legislator, Zhang Dejiang, met with visiting Austrian President Heinz Fischer Friday to discuss bilateral ties.

Zhang, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), China's top legislature, reviewed the relationship between the two countries since they forged diplomatic ties in 1971.

Zhang called on the two countries to make the best of each other's advantages in the economy and expand practical cooperation.

On legislative ties, Zhang underscored the importance the NPC places on developing ties with the Austrian parliament, calling for multi-level dialogue to improve exchanges and build people-to-people friendship.

Fischer said Austria-China relations have broad prospects and pledged Austria's commitment to deepening ties with China.

After Beijing, Fischer will fly to south China's Hainan Province to attend the 2015 Boao Forum for Asia. Endit
